Several hundred supporters of tenants’ rights came out on Friday, October 24, 2014 to honor HGJ partner Sam Himmelstein and other tenants rights advocates at an event sponsored by Metropolitan Counsel on Housing
Sam was introduced by long-time tenant advocate and current Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.
Among the guests were Public Advocate Leticia James, New York State Senators Liz Krueger, Brad Hoylman, Jim Brennan, Gustavo Rivera and Corey Johnson and New York State Assembly members Dick Gottfried, Linda Rosenthal, Brian Cavanaugh and Deborah Glick.
Following the presentations the guests were entertained by Sam’s rock n’ roll cover band The Love Handles and HGJ partner David Hershey-Webb along with special guest JJ French, the lead guitarist of Twisted Sister.
